“A JOURNEY TO THE WORLD OF EMOTIONS”.
The Ceuta native, who now works as an emotional engineer, has filled the library with a conference.
The ‘Adolfo Suárez’ Municipal State Library in Ceuta had an appointment this Wednesday with Izaskun Bernal and her conference ‘A journey to find your emotions’. For an hour and a half, listeners were able to learn a little more about emotions, a key but unknown part of our daily lives. The multi-purpose room was filled with dozens of listeners who were interested in this topic. Most remained seated in chairs, but others remained standing.
Bernal wanted to emphasise “authentic emotions”, which are those that “help us to energetically resolve and solve all kinds of situations, both false and dysfunctional, that create internal short circuits”, explained the speaker. In this case, she gives the example of stress problems, burnout syndrome, anxiety or depression. She also emphasised that some of these “help us in our day-to-day lives and others, such as sadness, can be dealt with calmly”.
This emotional journey has also served to give voice to a taboo subject that has always accompanied human beings, but which came to the fore during the period of confinement due to COVID-19. Therefore, “this is my starting point, to make emotions a little better known”. She has served as a loudspeaker to bring listeners a little more of this unknown world of emotions.
Izaskun Bernal’s conference was a journey through her extensive professional career. For ten years she dedicated herself professionally to tennis. Throughout this decade, “I learnt to manage victories and defeats, pressure and stress”, explained Bernal.
Then, after her time in sport, she studied Political Science specialising in the European Union, as well as going to Brussels on a scholarship. There she got a job and spent 16 years doing political work in the European Parliament and as a candidate in elections.
This second part of her life also came to an end. “I didn’t want to see this reality because I had financial and family stability ahead of me”, Izaskun Bernal acknowledged.
Insecurities came into play and fear for an uncertain future. However, during this period, she trained as an emotional engineer and professional coach, among other subjects.
Bernal learned throughout her life to be at the top, as well as to hit rock bottom. But from her experience of comings and goings, she took advantage of it to exploit her new facet.
“The motivation for this conference comes from my experience. I want to pass it on to anyone who is ready to hear it,” he added. Listeners on Wednesday got a little closer to the complicated world of emotions.
